Austin Peay at Utah Tech
ST. GEORGE, Utah (Interstat) — The surging Utah Tech Trailblazers will look to continue their dominant start to the season when they host the Austin Peay Governors in an evening baseball game Saturday at Burns Arena.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. MST under clear skies with a game-time temperature near 58 degrees.
Utah Tech (12-1) has been one of the nation’s early surprises and carries a potent offense into the weekend series finale. The Trailblazers won the series opener 15-11 on Thursday and followed with a shutout victory Friday. Their lineup is anchored by Kace Naone, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs in Thursday’s win over the Governors.
Austin Peay (5-7) seeks to salvage a game in the three-game set after dropping the first two. The Governors will rely on outfielder Zion Taylor, who has been a bright spot. Taylor is coming off a 3-for-4 performance with a homer and four RBIs in Thursday’s loss.
The teams combined for 26 runs and 27 hits in that offensive showcase, but Utah Tech’s pitching silenced Austin Peay’s bats in Friday’s contest.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Utah Tech is projected to win 7-4.
After Saturday, Utah Tech travels to face BYU on Tuesday before a weekend series at Santa Clara. Austin Peay returns home to host Ohio on Tuesday and Wednesday before opening a series at Bellarmine next Friday.
