SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — Payton Riske and three Utah relievers combined on a six-hit shutout Saturday afternoon as the Utes edged Grand Canyon 1-0. Riske struck out two over six scoreless innings, rebounding from a rough outing last week. The lone run scored in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Utah’s Jacobs. Grand Canyon starter JT Guerrero was the hard-luck loser, allowing one earned run over six innings despite not surrendering a hit. The Antelopes grounded into three double plays, squandering opportunities. Utah improved to 7-5 overall, while Grand Canyon fell to 6-9. The teams conclude their series Sunday.
