Presbyterian at Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. (March 7, 2026) (Interstat) — The Appalachian State Mountaineers look to continue their winning momentum when they host the struggling Presbyterian Blue Hose in an afternoon baseball game Saturday at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 69 degrees.

Appalachian State (7-5) enters the contest with a winning record, while Presbyterian has stumbled to a 2-11 start. The teams opened their series Friday, with the Mountaineers securing a victory.

A key matchup will feature Presbyterian reliever Brooks Chamberlin against Appalachian State’s power-hitting designated hitter Nico Soul. Chamberlin has been effective in recent outings, including three hitless innings with one earned run against College of Charleston on Tuesday. Soul is coming off a strong performance in Wednesday’s 9-8 loss to Wake Forest, where he went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

The Mountaineers’ offense will aim to rebound after a narrow midweek defeat. Beyond Soul, Ethan Puig provides additional power, hitting a home run in the same game. The bullpen, led by Jordan Fisher’s four strikeouts in 1.2 scoreless innings against Wake Forest, will be a strength.

Presbyterian seeks to end a four-game skid, having last won on Feb. 28 in an extra-inning loss at North Florida. The Blue Hose pitching staff, beyond Chamberlin, has seen recent scoreless appearances from Tristan McGregor and Jeremiah Hampton.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Appalachian State is projected to win 6-0.

Following Saturday’s game, the series concludes Sunday afternoon before both teams embark on busy stretches. Presbyterian travels to Florida Atlantic for two midweek games next week, while Appalachian State hosts Western Carolina on Tuesday before opening Sun Belt Conference play at home against Coastal Carolina next weekend.
