MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Interstat) — Brodie Kresser launched a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday, capping a late rally to lift West Virginia to a 9-5 win over Columbia.
The Mountaineers trailed 5-3 entering the seventh but tied it on an RBI single by Brock Wills. Columbia’s Jackson Brewer put the Lions ahead with an RBI double in the eighth, but West Virginia forced extra innings.
Kresser’s first homer of the season, a four-run shot, ended it. David Perez and Chansen Cole combined for 7 1/3 innings of relief for West Virginia (9-3). Columbia (1-5) got two RBIs from Brewer but stranded key runners.
