Maryland-Eastern Shore at Central Connecticut
Cold Hawks, Blue Devils Set for Afternoon Clash in New Britain
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet in chilly conditions Saturday afternoon when Maryland-Eastern Shore visits Central Connecticut in a non-conference baseball game at Balf–Savin Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 34 degrees.
The matchup, organized by the Northeast, features struggling squads. The Hawks (1-9) have lost nine straight, including a 20-11 home defeat to Siena on Tuesday and a series-opening loss to Central Connecticut on Friday. The Blue Devils (1-2) are playing just their fourth game, having opened their season last weekend with a series at Florida A&M.
Maryland-Eastern Shore will look to designated hitter Christian Azcona to spark its offense. Azcona drove in four runs with a home run in the loss to Siena. Central Connecticut counters with right-hander Jacob Hines, who turned in three scoreless, hitless relief innings with three strikeouts in his last appearance against Florida A&M.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 3-1 victory for Central Connecticut, while its ELO rating system gives the Blue Devils an 89.90% probability to win.
The series concludes Sunday afternoon at Balf–Savin Field.
