ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — The Alabama A&M Bulldogs and UNC Asheville Bulldogs will meet for the second straight day Saturday at Greenwood Baseball Field in the opener of a doubleheader.

First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, under cloudy skies with temperatures near 63 degrees.

UNC Asheville (7-7) took the series opener Friday, 8-4. The home Bulldogs used a strong outing from pitcher Lucas Boesen, who allowed two earned runs over 4 1/3 innings with five strikeouts, and a 3-for-4 day from Jake Minarik, who homered.

Alabama A&M (3-9) will look to even the series. A player to watch for the visiting Bulldogs is Will Tarpley, who provided four innings of hitless relief in Friday’s loss, allowing one earned run. Over his last six appearances, the reliever has not allowed a hit in four of them.

Boesen is also a key figure for UNC Asheville. In his last start, he fired seven shutout innings with six strikeouts in a win over Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 27.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Saturday’s opener is projected to be a tight contest, with a predicted final score of UNC Asheville 4, Alabama A&M 3.

The two Bulldog squads will conclude the three-game series Sunday.
