La Salle at Clemson

Preview: La Salle Explorers at No. -- Clemson Tigers

CLEMSON, S.C. (Interstat) — The Clemson Tigers look to continue their dominant start to the season when they host the La Salle Explorers in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, though forecasts call for rain and a temperature near 70 degrees.

The Tigers (12-1) have been one of the nation’s hottest teams, with their only loss a 7-0 road defeat to rival South Carolina on Feb. 27. They are coming off a commanding 14-1 victory over these same Explorers on Friday night. Clemson’s offense has produced 10 or more runs in six games this season.

A player to watch for Clemson is right-hander Dylan Harrison, who was stellar in relief Friday. He threw four innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five. In his last two appearances, he has surrendered just one run over seven innings.

La Salle (8-3) saw its five-game winning streak snapped decisively in Friday’s series opener. The Explorers will need a quick turnaround to challenge the Tigers’ momentum. A bright spot in the loss was reliever Dante Edwardi, who tossed two hitless innings, though he allowed one earned run. Edwardi is a key arm for La Salle, having allowed just two hits over his last three innings of work across two appearances.

Despite Friday’s lopsided result, Interstat’s game simulator projects a tightly contested rematch, forecasting a narrow 8-7 victory for La Salle. The Explorers have shown offensive capability this season, including scoring 27 runs in a game against Maryland-Eastern Shore on Feb. 13.

The teams will conclude the three-game series with the doubleheader’s second game on Saturday, followed by a final matchup on Sunday. Clemson then prepares for its Atlantic Coast Conference opener against Georgia Tech next Thursday, while La Salle heads into Atlantic 10 play next weekend at VCU.
