California Baptist at BYU
PROVO, Utah (Interstat) — A hot California Baptist lineup looks to continue its surge against BYU as the teams meet for the third game of their series Saturday at Larry H. Miller Field.
First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though cold and wet conditions are expected with a game-time forecast of 35 degrees and rain.
The Lancers (12-3) have won 10 of their last 11, including a 13-11 slugfest over the Cougars (6-6) on Thursday. BYU took Friday’s contest, 1-0.
California Baptist’s offense is powered by Bryce McFeely. The right fielder is coming off a two-homer, five-RBI performance in Thursday’s win and has four home runs and nine RBIs in his last three games.
BYU will counter with third baseman Easton Jones, who also homered twice and drove in three runs in Thursday’s loss. He is 5 for 9 with three home runs over his last three games.
The Interstat game simulator projects an 8-5 California Baptist victory.
Following the series, California Baptist travels to face Loyola Marymount on Tuesday. BYU hosts Utah Tech on Tuesday before opening a series with Cincinnati next Thursday.
