Jasa, Bullpen Lead Nebraska Past Michigan State in Big Ten Series
LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) — Carson Jasa struck out nine over five strong innings and Nebraska’s bullpen combined for four scoreless frames as the Cornhuskers defeated Michigan State 3-1 on Saturday evening at Haymarket Park.
Jasa allowed one run on four hits to earn the win, rebounding from a rough outing the previous weekend. The Spartans scored in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk, but Nebraska tied it in the bottom half on Will Jesske’s RBI single. The Cornhuskers took the lead in the fifth on an unearned run and added insurance in the seventh on Jett Buck’s solo home run.
Michigan State’s Carter Monke pitched 4 2/3 hitless innings in relief but took the loss. Nebraska improved to 9-5 overall, while Michigan State fell to 3-10. The teams conclude the three-game Big Ten series Sunday.
