North Dakota State at Vanderbilt
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Vanderbilt Commodores will look to continue their dominance over North Dakota State when the teams meet for the second game of their series Saturday afternoon at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for the evening under clear skies with a temperature around 77 degrees.
Vanderbilt (9-6) opened the series with a commanding 14-2 victory over the Bison on Friday night. The Commodores have won four of their last six games.
North Dakota State (1-12) seeks to end a six-game skid and find a spark after being outscored 23-6 in its last two contests. The Bison’s lone win this season came against Monmouth on Feb. 21.
A player to watch for Vanderbilt is reliever Connor Hamilton, who has been effective in recent outings. Over his last three appearances, spanning seven innings, he has allowed just one earned run on one hit while striking out seven. He pitched four scoreless innings in a win over Troy on Wednesday.
For North Dakota State, right-hander Anthony Pardo will aim to build on a strong relief performance last Tuesday against Southern Illinois, where he threw two hitless and scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Vanderbilt is projected to win 6-1.
Following Saturday’s game, the series concludes Sunday. Vanderbilt then prepares for a pivotal SEC opening series against LSU next weekend. North Dakota State continues its road swing with a midweek game at Nebraska on Wednesday.
