Wildcats Overpower Bulldogs in Late Inning Surge
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Interstat) — The Kentucky Wildcats erupted for seven runs in the eighth inning to storm past The Citadel 12-7 on Saturday afternoon at Kentucky Proud Park.
The Citadel Bulldogs held a 7-5 lead entering the bottom of the eighth before the Wildcats’ offense exploded. Tagger Tyson’s two-run double gave Kentucky the lead before Jayce Tharnish launched a three-run homer. Ethan Hindle followed with a solo shot, capping the decisive rally.
Tharnish and Hindle each homered and drove in three runs for Kentucky (13-2). Ben Cleaver provided three scoreless innings of relief for the win. The Citadel (5-7) recorded eight hits but its bullpen faltered late. The teams conclude their series Sunday.
