Jacksonville State Edges Valparaiso 3‑2 Behind Pillsbury’s 10-Strikeout Performance

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — Eli Pillsbury struck out 10 over 5 2/3 innings, and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks rallied for a 3-2 win over the Valparaiso Beacons on Friday at Rudy Abbott Field.

Pillsbury allowed just three hits and one earned run, continuing a dominant stretch following a scoreless outing last week. Valparaiso took a 2-0 lead in the first on Brayden Pleau’s sacrifice fly and held it until the sixth. Jacksonville State tied it on Grayson Ashe’s RBI double and a wild pitch. Brady Thomas delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the seventh.

Reliever Skyler Hutto earned the win for the Gamecocks (11-3). Adam Guazzo threw three hitless innings for Valparaiso (5-6), which managed only five hits total.
