South Alabama Routs Louisiana Tech Behind Heer’s 11-Strikeout Performance

MOBILE, Ala. (Interstat) — Mitchell Heer struck out 11 over seven strong innings and Michael Young launched a grand slam as South Alabama powered past Louisiana Tech 9-3 on Friday night at Eddie Stanky Field.

The Jaguars, now 11-3, sent 11 batters to the plate in a six-run first inning. Young’s homer provided the big blow. Heer allowed three runs on just three hits, including a three-run homer to Cade Patterson in the third, to earn the win. Duncan Mathews added two RBIs for South Alabama.

The Bulldogs (8-7) managed only four hits total. The teams continue their series Saturday.
