Tennessee Tech at Georgia Southern
Tennessee Tech, Georgia Southern Set for Weekend Series Opener
STATESBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and Georgia Southern Eagles will open a three-game non-conference series Friday at J.I. Clements Stadium, with both teams looking to steady their early-season trajectories.
First pitch is scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026, under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 72 degrees.
Tennessee Tech (6-6) enters having split its last six games but is coming off an 11-0 loss to Notre Dame on Sunday. The Golden Eagles’ strength has been its weekend pitching, notably sophomore right-hander Logan Moller. In his last start against Notre Dame, Moller provided four scoreless innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts. Over his last two outings, spanning 8 2/3 innings, he has allowed just two earned runs while striking out 10.
Georgia Southern (2-10) seeks to halt a difficult start that includes a 7-1 midweek loss at The Citadel on Wednesday. A bright spot in that game was reliever Thomas Burke, who struck out all four batters he faced in two perfect innings. The right-hander has shown swing-and-miss stuff recently, fanning seven over his last 4 2/3 innings, though he has been prone to occasional control issues.
The Golden Eagles’ offense will aim to rebound after being shut out twice in its last four games. Georgia Southern’s pitching staff has struggled overall, surrendering seven or more runs in eight of its 12 contests this season.
Projections for the opener are split. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 6-2 Tennessee Tech victory, while the same service’s ELO rating system gives Georgia Southern a 60.6% probability to win.
This series begins a busy stretch for both clubs. Following Sunday’s finale, Tennessee Tech will visit Tennessee next Tuesday, while Georgia Southern hosts Clemson in a neutral-site game in Clearwater, South Carolina.
