Northern Kentucky at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Northern Kentucky team riding a five-game win streak faces its toughest test yet when it visits Florida State at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium on Friday.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 79 degrees.

The Norse (7-4) arrive after a high-scoring series sweep of Eastern Illinois, capped by a 20-15 victory last Sunday. Their offense will be challenged by a Seminoles (10-2) squad that has allowed just 10 total runs during its own six-game winning streak.

Northern Kentucky’s lineup is powered by left fielder Hunter Friedberg, who drove in seven runs on two hits, including a home run, in Sunday’s win. Over his last three games, he is 4-for-7 with seven RBIs.

Florida State counters with its own hot hitter in third baseman Will Bavaro. He went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in Wednesday’s 22-5 rout of Mercer. The Seminoles’ offense has been explosive, scoring 10 or more runs in five games this season.

Despite the disparity in records and pedigree, statistical projections hint at a potential upset. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a narrow 8-7 victory for the visiting Norse. However, the same service’s ELO rating system heavily favors Florida State, giving the Seminoles an 87.9% probability to win.

The series continues Saturday and Sunday in Tallahassee before both teams embark on extended road stretches.
