Radford at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — The Charlotte 49ers, looking to rebound from a midweek loss, host the Radford Highlanders in non-conference baseball action Friday evening at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under forecasted cloudy skies and 75-degree temperatures.

Charlotte (8-4) enters having split a two-game set with Virginia, including a 14-0 rout on Tuesday before falling 8-1 on Wednesday. The 49ers’ bullpen has been a strength, with reliever AJ Camp emerging as a key arm. Over his last four appearances spanning 9 2/3 innings, the right-hander has allowed just four hits and zero earned runs while striking out nine.

Radford (6-4) seeks consistency after dropping two of three at home to Bryant last weekend. The Highlanders’ offense is powered by outfielder Devin Parks, who is coming off a 2-for-4, three-RBI performance that included a home run in Sunday’s 12-6 loss to the Bulldogs. For the season, Parks is batting .300 with a team-high eight RBIs.

The Highlanders’ recent schedule shows a pattern of potent offense, scoring six or more runs in five of their six wins, but also vulnerability, being outscored 31-8 in their four losses.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Friday’s contest projects to be a high-scoring affair, with a predicted final score of Charlotte 7, Radford 6.

The game is part of a multi-team event in Charlotte. Radford will face Western Carolina again at the 49ers’ ballpark on Saturday, while Charlotte will host Western Carolina that same day.
