Milwaukee at Southeast Missouri State
Rainy Night Clash Set for Capaha Field as Redhawks Host Panthers
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks look to climb above .500 when they host the struggling Milwaukee Panthers in a three-game series opener Friday afternoon at Capaha Field.
First pitch is scheduled for the evening, though forecasts call for 69-degree temperatures and rain.
The Redhawks (7-7) enter having won four of their last five, including a 13-4 rout of Evansville on Tuesday. A player to watch for Southeast Missouri State is right-hander Benjamin Snider, who was dominant in that victory, tossing four scoreless innings with five strikeouts. His season, however, has been uneven; he allowed six earned runs in just two innings in a loss at Western Kentucky on Feb. 21.
Milwaukee (2-10) seeks to halt a four-game skid after falling 6-2 at Minnesota on Wednesday. The Panthers have been outscored 22-6 in their last two games. A bright spot has been reliever Alex Vander Loop, who has not allowed a hit over his last 4 2/3 innings of work across two appearances, including 2 2/3 perfect frames against the Golden Gophers.
The Panthers’ offense has mustered three or fewer runs in seven of their 10 losses this season. Beyond Vander Loop, pitchers Tristan Arnold and Camden Kuhnke also provided scoreless relief in the midweek loss.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-2 victory for Southeast Missouri State, with its ELO rating system giving the Redhawks a 76.3% probability to win.
The series continues with games on Saturday and Sunday in Cape Girardeau before both teams embark on extended road trips.
