Binghamton at Richmond

Preview: Binghamton Bearcats at Richmond Spiders

RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The Richmond Spiders will look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the struggling Binghamton Bearcats in a three-game series opener Friday afternoon at Malcolm U. Pitt Field.

First pitch is scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026, under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 76 degrees.

The Spiders (8-5) enter with a winning record, having taken three of four from Cornell last weekend before a midweek loss to Longwood. Richmond’s offense has shown potency, scoring nine or more runs in five games this season.

Conversely, the Bearcats (2-7) seek to reverse early-season fortunes, having lost seven of their last eight contests. Binghamton is coming off a 3-4 loss at High Point on March 1, part of a road-heavy opening schedule.

A key matchup will feature Binghamton pitcher Brady Bouchard, who has been a bright spot despite team results. In his last start against High Point, Bouchard threw five hitless innings, allowing one earned run. On Feb. 21 at William & Mary, he pitched four hitless frames.

Richmond will counter with reliever Dominic Ruggiero, a player to watch for the Spiders. Ruggiero has seen action in three games, most recently throwing 2 1/3 innings with four strikeouts against Longwood. He pitched a scoreless inning at North Carolina State on Feb. 24.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-2 Richmond victory, with its ELO rating system giving the Spiders a 55.20% probability to win.

Following Friday’s contest, the series continues Saturday and Sunday in Richmond before both teams embark on extended homestands.
