Coats Powers Bearcats Past Tritons in High-Scoring Affair

CINCINNATI (Interstat) — Quinton Coats launched two home runs and drove in five runs Thursday afternoon, powering the Cincinnati Bearcats to a 9-5 victory over the UC San Diego Tritons at Marge Schott Stadium.

The Bearcats, who improved to 10-4, overcame an early five-run deficit with 14 hits. Coats hit a two-run homer in the third inning and a decisive three-run shot in the fifth. Nathan Taylor earned the win, striking out 11 over six innings.

UC San Diego (4-7) managed only three hits, two of which were solo home runs by Nick Costello and Alex Leopard. The Tritons led 5-0 in the third but could not hold off Cincinnati’s rally.
