HOUSTON (Interstat) — Dylan Volantis struck out eight over 4 2/3 hitless innings and third baseman Temo Becerra homered and drove in three runs as the top-ranked Texas Longhorns defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 10-3 on Sunday afternoon at Daikin Park.

The Longhorns (11-0) broke open the game with a seven-run third inning, sending 12 batters to the plate. Becerra’s two-run homer capped the rally. Texas finished with 11 hits.

Volantis allowed one earned run before a quartet of relievers combined to hold Ohio State (5-5) to six hits. Nick Furcht homered and Lee Ellis had an RBI triple for the Buckeyes.

The victory exceeded the projection by Interstat, which gave Texas an 84.1% chance to win.
