DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — Bethune-Cookman erupted for eight runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 14-7 victory over Delaware State in college baseball Saturday.

The Wildcats pounded 15 hits, including a two-run double from Michael Rodriguez, to support a strong bullpen effort. Logan Wirt earned top star honors with 3 1/3 perfect innings of relief, striking out one. Jeter Polledo and Jose Fernandez each drove in two runs for Bethune-Cookman, which improved to 6-3.

Delaware State’s Rosnell Lewis had two hits and an RBI for the Hornets, who managed just six hits as a team and fell to 0-8. The Wildcats’ early offensive surge, capitalizing on wild pitches and key hits, proved insurmountable.
