Charlotte Routs Old Dominion in Shutout Victory

NORFOLK, Va. (Interstat) — Charlotte blasted Old Dominion 13-0 on Saturday afternoon at Bud Metheny Baseball Complex, riding a dominant pitching performance and a powerful offensive outburst.

The 49ers (6-3) scored all their runs in the third through fifth innings, tallying 15 hits. Designated hitter Dylan Koontz led the charge, going 3 for 4 with a three-run homer and four RBIs. Alec DeMartino added three hits and two RBIs.

Charlotte starter Eddie Copper set the tone, pitching four hitless innings with two strikeouts to earn the win. Five relievers combined to allow just five hits, preserving the shutout. Old Dominion (6-3) managed only five singles off six Charlotte pitchers.

The Monarchs’ bullpen provided brief relief, with Ben Tanton striking out three in a perfect inning, but the early deficit was insurmountable. The teams will conclude their series Sunday.
