Presbyterian at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. (Interstat) — The undefeated and No. 4-ranked Clemson Tigers will put their perfect record on the line Tuesday evening when they host the struggling Presbyterian Blue Hose in a nonconference baseball matchup at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures expected to be near 39 degrees.

Clemson (7-0) enters riding high after a weekend sweep of Bryant, capped by a 7-5 victory Sunday. The Tigers’ offense has been potent, averaging over seven runs per game, while the pitching staff has posted a collective 2.14 ERA.

Third baseman Tryston McCladdie has been a key catalyst for the Tigers. He is coming off a strong series against Bryant, going 4 for 12 with a home run and four RBIs, including a 2-for-3, two-RBI performance in Sunday’s win.

Presbyterian (2-6) seeks to halt a four-game skid, most recently a 21-9 home loss to Valparaiso on Sunday. The Blue Hose have been outscored 66-24 during their losing streak and will face a significant challenge against a Clemson team that has not trailed after the sixth inning this season.

Right fielder Amman Dewberry has been a bright spot for Presbyterian. He drove in three runs with a home run in the loss to Valparaiso and has five RBIs over his last three games.

On the mound, Presbyterian will look to find consistency after its starters have struggled early. Clemson’s bullpen, anchored by reliever Dion Brown who threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings Sunday, has been a strength.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-2 victory for Clemson.

Following this midweek contest, Clemson will turn its attention to a pivotal three-game weekend series against rival South Carolina, beginning Friday in Columbia. Presbyterian continues a road stretch with a three-game series at North Florida starting Friday.
