MACOMB, Ill. (Interstat) — The Eastern Illinois Panthers defeated the Western Illinois Leathernecks 13-9 on Saturday, May 16, at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium, completing a three-game series sweep. Eastern Illinois improved to 31-19 overall, while Western Illinois fell to 15-35.

The Panthers jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first inning, highlighted by Mike O’Conor’s RBI single. Peyton Wilson added a two-run homer in the third inning and finished with three RBIs. Eastern Illinois built a 13-2 lead by the fifth inning, but the Leathernecks rallied with four runs in the fifth and three more in the eighth. Kamryn Link drove in three runs for Western Illinois, and Josh McClintock added two RBIs. Eastern Illinois starter Anthony Solis earned the win, while relievers James Geshel and Jack Helms combined to close the game.

O’Conor collected three hits and three RBIs, and James Love tripled and singled in a run. Brett Stanley scored twice and drove in a run. The Panthers outhit the Leathernecks 16-14.
