Florida at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (Interstat) — Florida and LSU meet Saturday in a Southeastern Conference baseball series finale at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field, with first pitch scheduled for the afternoon and evening.

The Gators (36-18) have already clinched the three-game set, winning 11-8 on Thursday and 11-1 in seven innings Friday. Florida enters with momentum, having won four of its last five overall, including a series win over Kentucky last weekend. LSU (29-26) has dropped four straight after losing three of four at Georgia before the Florida series.

The weather forecast calls for 84-degree temperatures with clouds at game time.

Florida pitcher Aidan King is a player to watch. The right-hander threw 5⅓ innings in Thursday’s win over LSU, allowing no hits but four earned runs with seven strikeouts. In his previous outing, he worked 6⅓ innings, gave up six hits and five earned runs, striking out six against Kentucky. King also turned in a dominant start May 1 at Oklahoma, going seven innings with no hits, one unearned run and 10 strikeouts. He limited Texas A&M to four hits and two earned runs over eight innings in a win April 24.

For LSU, infielder Steven Milam has been a consistent offensive threat. He went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in Thursday’s loss. Over his last 10 games, Milam has multiple hits four times, including a 2-for-4, four-RBI performance May 5 against Tulane. He also homered and drove in two runs April 26 at Mississippi State. However, he was held to one hit in three games at Georgia earlier this month.

The Gators’ offense has been productive during the series, scoring 11 runs in each game. Florida’s lineup includes several players who have contributed throughout the season, with the team averaging about eight runs per game over its last five contests.

LSU will look to avoid a sweep and build momentum heading into the postseason. The Tigers have struggled at the plate in recent games, scoring one run in Friday’s loss after managing eight on Thursday.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 Florida victory, while the Interstat ELO system gives LSU a 53.6 percent probability to win.

The game marks the final regular-season meeting between the two programs this year. Florida is vying for a higher seed in the SEC tournament, while LSU hopes to improve its resume for an at-large NCAA tournament bid.
