Dayton at George Washington

ARLINGTON, Va. (Interstat) — The Dayton Flyers (29-23) will look to build on a dominant series-opening win when they face the George Washington Revolutionaries (18-33) on Friday afternoon at Barcroft Park in an Atlantic 10 matchup.

The game follows Dayton’s 9-1 victory Thursday, a performance highlighted by right-hander Sawyer Jensen. The junior tossed a complete game, allowing one unearned run on zero hits while striking out four. Jensen has been a force in his last five starts, posting four wins and three outings with no hits allowed. He will be a key player to watch for the Flyers, though it remains unclear if he will start on short rest.

For George Washington, the Revolutionaries will try to rebound after a lopsided loss. Left-hander Aidan Carey is a player to watch; he allowed one hit and no earned runs in 1⅔ innings of relief Thursday, striking out one. Carey has struggled in limited action this season, but his ability to limit damage could be vital in a bullpen that gave up seven earned runs in six innings Thursday.

Dayton enters with momentum from a series win over La Salle and a midweek victory at Notre Dame, though the Flyers dropped two of three to George Mason last weekend. George Washington has lost four of its last five, including a sweep at Richmond and a 16-1 defeat to George Mason.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-1 Dayton win, and its ELO system gives the Flyers a 60.5 percent probability of victory. The forecast calls for 60-degree temperatures and cloudy skies at first pitch.

The teams will conclude the series Saturday, also at Barcroft Park.
