KNAPP CREEK, N.Y. (Interstat) — Joey Calabretti homered twice and drove in five runs, including a walk-off three-run blast in the bottom of the ninth inning, to lift Saint Bonaventure to an 8-5 victory over Fordham on Thursday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

The Bonnies, trailing 5-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, cut the lead to 5-3 when Calabretti hit a two-run homer to right field. Fordham starter Chase Hanawalt dominated through seven innings, striking out 10 without allowing a hit, but he was charged with three earned runs after Calabretti’s first home run.

Saint Bonaventure trailed 5-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth against Fordham reliever Declan Cawley. Conner Vercollone led off with a single to left field. Ashton Ross, pinch-hitting for Gavin Constantine, singled through the right side, moving Vercollone to third. Anthony Fernandez then singled to left, scoring Vercollone and cutting the deficit to 5-4. After Chris Hoalcraft grounded out, Manuel Castro singled to right center, driving in pinch runner Chris Florentino to tie the game at 5-5. Aric Berg replaced Cawley, and Castro advanced to second on the play. Calabretti then launched his second homer of the game to left field, scoring Castro and Fernandez to end it.
