STANFORD, Calif. (Interstat) — Saint Mary’s visits Stanford on Tuesday, May 12, at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond in a nonconference matchup of teams heading in opposite directions.

The Gaels (27-21 overall) enter on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Loyola Marymount over the weekend, outscoring the Lions 31-13. Saint Mary’s won 6-3 on Sunday, with left fielder Nick Allred going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Allred has been consistent recently, driving in at least one run in three of his last four games. He is batting .325 on the season.

Stanford (25-23) split a three-game series with North Carolina State, winning 9-5 on Sunday. Designated hitter Teddy Tokheim starred, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Tokheim has been on a tear, with four homers and 10 RBIs over his last four games. However, the Cardinal have lost six of their last nine after a rough series at Notre Dame.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-6 victory for Saint Mary’s.

The Gaels’ pitching has been effective, with relievers David Roberts and Jake Hilton each throwing two scoreless innings Sunday. Stanford’s bullpen has been uneven, allowing 12 runs in Saturday’s loss.

Following Tuesday’s game, Saint Mary’s hosts San Francisco for a three-game series starting Thursday. Stanford visits California for a three-game set beginning Thursday.

First pitch is at 6 p.m. PT.
