Miami (FL) at North Carolina State

RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — The Miami Hurricanes (32-12, 14-9 ACC) aim for a series sweep Saturday afternoon when they face North Carolina State (28-16, 11-12) at Doak Field.

Miami won the series opener 1-0 on Friday. The rivalry continues with first pitch at 2 p.m. The forecast calls for 64 degrees and cloudy skies.

The Hurricanes send right-hander AJ Ciscar to the mound. Ciscar (5-2, 3.81 ERA) has been dominant in two of his last three starts. He threw 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball against California on April 26, striking out seven. On April 12, he shut out Wake Forest over seven innings, allowing four hits with five strikeouts. However, he lasted only 2 2/3 innings against Stanford on April 19, surrendering five earned runs without a hit in a 14-6 loss. Ciscar also scattered six hits and allowed three earned runs over six innings in a loss to Virginia Tech on April 5.

North Carolina State counters with reliever Truitt Manuel. The right-hander (2-2, 4.26 ERA) has been effective in limited recent action. He threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings against East Carolina on April 28, striking out five. He also worked a scoreless inning against the Pirates on April 14. Manuel’s one rough outing came at Wake Forest on April 18, when he allowed two earned runs in 2/3 of an inning.

Miami enters the weekend on a three-game winning streak, including a series win over California. The Hurricanes have won seven of their last 10.

N.C. State split a midweek series with East Carolina, winning 12-2 on Tuesday after losing the opener. The Wolfpack dropped two of three at Virginia Tech last weekend.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Miami win.

The series concludes Sunday afternoon.
