Toledo at Youngstown State
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Interstat) — The Toledo Rockets and Youngstown State Penguins will meet for the second straight day Wednesday, looking to build on an 11-10 offensive showcase won by the Penguins on Tuesday.
First pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
The Rockets (17-23) will aim to even the series after Tuesday’s narrow loss, a game in which they squandered a late lead. Toledo’s recent form has been uneven, with a 20-4 rout of Miami (Ohio) on Sunday sandwiched by losses in seven of its last 10 contests.
Youngstown State (9-30) snapped a seven-game skid with Tuesday’s victory, its third win in the last four games following a weekend series win at Oakland.
A key rematch will feature Tuesday’s top performers. Toledo right fielder Cade Baker is coming off a massive game, going 2-for-6 with two home runs and five RBIs in the loss. He has driven in nine runs over his last 10 games.
For the Penguins, third baseman Garrett Cutting also homered and drove in three runs in Tuesday’s win. He has four hits and five RBIs in his last three games.
On the mound, both teams will seek more stability after Tuesday’s combined 21-run, 24-hit affair. Toledo’s Arturo Ormaza provided a bright spot with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, while Youngstown State’s Aidan English earned the win with three perfect innings of work out of the bullpen.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Wednesday’s contest is projected to be a much tighter, lower-scoring affair with a predicted final of Toledo 3, Youngstown State 2.
Following the game, Toledo will travel to face Bowling Green for a three-game series starting Friday. Youngstown State hits the road for a weekend set at Illinois-Chicago.
