Merrimack at Massachusetts-Lowell
Merrimack Warriors (15-21) at UMass Lowell River Hawks (15-20)
LOWELL, Mass. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to climb back to .500 will meet when the Merrimack Warriors visit the UMass Lowell River Hawks in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday afternoon.
First pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at LeLacheur Park.
Both teams enter with identical 15-win records, though Merrimack has one more loss (21) than UMass Lowell (20). The Warriors took the most recent meeting between the programs, an 11-4 home victory on March 24.
Merrimack arrives after splitting a four-game series at Sacred Heart, highlighted by a 7-2 win Saturday. The Warriors will look to pitcher Colby Barker to set the tone. The right-hander is coming off a strong performance in that victory, throwing six scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Over his last three starts, Barker has allowed just six earned runs in 19 innings pitched.
The River Hawks are looking to rebound after dropping two of three at UMBC, including a 12-11 slugfest loss Sunday. Their offense is powered by first baseman Sean O’Leary, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs in that defeat. O’Leary is a consistent threat, having recorded multi-hit games in five of his last ten contests, including a 4-for-5, two-homer, four-RBI outburst in a 20-10 win over Stonehill on April 14.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, UMass Lowell is projected to win 5-3.
Following this matchup, Merrimack begins a three-game home series against Marist on Friday. UMass Lowell opens a conference series at home against Bryant on Friday.
