Utah Valley at Utah
Preview: Utah Valley Wolverines at Utah Utes
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Utah Utes will look to continue their winning momentum when they host the struggling Utah Valley Wolverines in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday night.
The Utes (20-15) enter on a high note after taking two of three from Texas Tech over the weekend, including a 6-3 victory Sunday. Utah’s pitching staff, a key to its success, will be in focus. A player to watch is reliever Seth GrahamPippin, who earned the win Sunday with 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing two runs and striking out six.
Utah Valley (11-24) seeks to snap a five-game skid, having just been swept at home by Utah Tech. The Wolverines’ offense has been inconsistent, but they possess a potent bat in Hunter Katschke. The infielder/outfielder is coming off a massive performance Sunday, going 4 for 6 with two home runs and six RBIs in the 13-10 loss. He has four homers and 10 RBIs in his last five games.
The Utes won the previous meeting this season, 15-9, at Utah Valley on March 31. GrahamPippin pitched 1 1/3 innings in that contest, allowing two earned runs.
Utah’s overall record and recent series win over a Power Five opponent like Texas Tech stands in stark contrast to Utah Valley’s difficult season. The Wolverines have lost 10 of their last 11 games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Utah is projected to win 5-1.
Following this midweek matchup, both teams dive back into conference play. Utah begins a Big 12 series at home against UCF on Friday. Utah Valley heads to Tarleton State for a Western Athletic Conference series starting Friday.
The game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
