LAFAYETTE, La. (Interstat) — The Grambling Tigers visit the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at M.L. Tigue Moore Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with a temperature near 73 degrees.

Grambling (15-22) enters having won three of its last four, including a series sweep of Prairie View over the weekend. The Tigers rallied for a 7-6 win Sunday, keyed by a strong relief outing from Trevor Esparza and a three-RBI day from Dillon Braxton.

Esparza, a player to watch for the Tigers, logged 5 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts in that victory. The right-hander has been a versatile arm for Grambling, appearing in multiple roles recently.

Louisiana-Lafayette (21-17) looks to rebound after dropping two of three at Troy, including a 15-11 shootout loss Sunday. Despite the defeat, catcher Colt Brown was a bright spot, going 3 for 3 with four RBIs.

Brown, the Ragin’ Cajuns’ player to watch, is hitting .500 (7 for 14) with seven RBIs over his last five games, providing consistent production in the middle of the lineup.

The Ragin’ Cajuns hold the better overall record, but the Tigers bring momentum from their weekend success. According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest projects to be a tight one, with a predicted final score of Grambling 4, Louisiana-Lafayette 3.

Following this midweek matchup, Grambling travels to Alcorn State for a Southwestern Athletic Conference series starting Friday. Louisiana-Lafayette hits the road for a Sun Belt Conference series at Arkansas State, also beginning Friday.
