Baseball Game Preview: Manhattan Jaspers at La Salle Explorers

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The La Salle Explorers host the Manhattan Jaspers in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at Hank DeVincent Field.

First pitch is scheduled for the evening, with cloudy skies and a temperature near 53 degrees forecast.

Manhattan (14-20) enters after splitting a four-game series with Rider, dropping the finale 13-9 on Saturday despite home runs from Andreaus Lewis and Hunter Sute. The Jaspers have lost five of their last seven.

La Salle (17-23) looks to snap a three-game skid after falling 10-3 to Fordham on Saturday. Chase Swain homered in the loss.

A key player to watch for Manhattan is right-hander Hudson Pergamit. In his last start on April 11, he earned a win against Siena, allowing two earned runs over five innings with six strikeouts. However, he was tagged for seven runs in just two innings in a March 29 loss to Merrimack.

For La Salle, reliever Josh Beck will be a factor. He has been effective recently, pitching scoreless outings in four of his last five appearances, including two innings of hitless relief at Rhode Island on April 10.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is La Salle 4, Manhattan 3.

Both teams resume conference play this weekend. Manhattan hosts Canisius for a three-game series starting Friday. La Salle begins a three-game home set against Saint Joseph’s on Friday.
