LA JOLLA, Calif. (Interstat) — Griffin Naess threw six no-hit innings and Dylan Kordic launched a three-run homer as Cal Poly routed UC San Diego 11-3 in a Big West Conference opener Friday at UCSD Triton Baseball Field.

Naess, the Mustangs’ top star, struck out six and allowed two earned runs, both on solo homers by UC San Diego’s Gabe Camacho in the first and Michael Crossland in the third. The Tritons managed just five hits total.

Cal Poly (20-16) broke open a tight game with a four-run fourth, aided by two Tritons errors, and sealed it with a four-run eighth, capped by Kordic’s center field blast. Jake Downing added two RBIs for the Mustangs. UC San Diego fell to 15-18.
