Georgia Southern at Georgia Tech
ATLANTA (Interstat) — A surging Georgia Tech squad riding a 10-game winning streak will host in-state foe Georgia Southern on Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The No. 4-ranked Yellow Jackets (28-5) have been one of the nation’s most dominant teams, coming off a three-game sweep of Florida State that included a 17-3 rout in seven innings on Saturday. Shortstop Carson Kerce has been a key catalyst, going 8 for 12 with a home run and six RBIs in that series. For the season, he’s batting .417.
They’ll face a Georgia Southern team (12-23) looking to rebound from a series loss to South Alabama, though the Eagles took one game in the set. Second baseman Jack Myers provides a power threat, having hit a grand slam in Sunday’s 13-12 loss. He is 11 for 38 (.289) over his last 10 games with two homers and 10 RBIs.
The teams met earlier this season on Feb. 17 in Statesboro, with Georgia Tech delivering a 25-1 victory. The Yellow Jackets have won 12 of the last 13 meetings in the series.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature near 79 degrees.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 Georgia Tech victory.
Following the midweek contest, Georgia Tech opens a crucial Atlantic Coast Conference road series at North Carolina on Friday. Georgia Southern begins Sun Belt Conference play at Old Dominion on Friday.
