Rain Expected as Golden Gophers Visit Tommies for Twin Cities Tilt

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Interstat) — The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers will make the short trip to Koch Diamond on Tuesday evening to face the University of Saint Thomas Tommies in a nonconference matchup, with wet weather in the forecast.

First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026, under a forecast of 70-degree temperatures and rain.

The Golden Gophers (21-14) enter on a stronger trajectory, having won three of their last four, including a 5-4 victory over Washington last Saturday. The Tommies (5-22) have struggled, dropping 10 of their last 11 contests. Their lone win in that span was a 4-1 victory over South Dakota State on April 10.

Minnesota won the previous meeting this season decisively, 15-5, on March 25 in Minneapolis.

A player to watch for the Gophers is reliever Adam Urban. The right-hander has been sharp lately, tossing two hitless, scoreless innings with three strikeouts in the win over Washington. Over his last three appearances, he has logged 4.0 innings, allowing no hits and no earned runs while striking out five.

For the Tommies, right-hander Evan Esch will look to provide stability. In his last outing against South Dakota State, he went 3 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 4-2 victory for Minnesota.

This game begins a busy stretch for both teams. Minnesota will travel to UCLA for a three-game series starting Friday. Saint Thomas will host Northern Colorado for a three-game set beginning the same day. The in-state rivals will meet again at Minnesota’s Siebert Field on April 28.
