Milwaukee at Central Michigan

Rain Expected as Panthers Visit Chippewas on Monday

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Panthers and Central Michigan Chippewas are scheduled for a non-conference matchup Monday at Bill Theunissen Stadium, though forecasts of rain and 57-degree temperatures threaten the contest.

The game is set for an afternoon start. Milwaukee (8-24) enters after a 12-0 road win at Oakland on Sunday, while Central Michigan (12-18) is coming off a high-scoring 21-13 victory at Bowling Green.

The Panthers will look to ride the hot hand of right-hander Riley Peterson. The pitcher to watch is coming off a dominant performance, throwing six no-hit innings with three strikeouts in Sunday’s win. Over his last three appearances, Peterson has allowed just one earned run and two hits over 18 innings, striking out 20.

Central Michigan’s offense, which exploded for 21 runs Sunday, is powered by outfielder Zach Knowlton. He went 3 for 6 with two home runs and five RBIs in that victory. For the season, Knowlton is batting .300 with four homers and 21 RBIs.

Despite Milwaukee’s struggling record, the Panthers took two of three at Oakland last weekend. Dominic Kibler and Max Glusick provided key bats in the series finale, combining for five RBIs.

The Chippewas have shown a potent but inconsistent offense, scoring 26 runs in their last two games after being held to four runs total in the two prior contests.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Central Michigan 4, Milwaukee 3.

This begins a busy week for both teams. Milwaukee hosts Northern Kentucky for a three-game series starting Friday. Central Michigan faces Youngstown State on Wednesday before opening a four-game home series with Ohio on Friday.
