DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — Elijah McNeal hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to break open a tight game, lifting UC Davis to a 4-1 win over Saint Mary’s on Monday at Dobbins Baseball Complex.

The Gaels took an early lead on Diego Castellanos’ RBI single in the third. The Aggies tied it in the sixth on McNeal’s run-scoring single and took the lead on a bases-loaded walk later in the frame. McNeal provided insurance with his two-out blast to left.

Saint Mary’s outhit UC Davis 10-7 but stranded nine runners. The Aggies used five pitchers in relief after starter Braydon Wooldridge allowed one run over five innings. The Gaels fell to 15-14 overall, while UC Davis improved to 12-17.
