Kansas Rallies From Nine-Run Deficit to Top Utah in Big 12 Slugfest
LAWRENCE, Kan. (Interstat) — The Kansas Jayhawks staged a massive comeback from an early nine-run deficit to defeat the Utah Utes 14-9 in a Big 12 Conference baseball game Friday at Hoglund Ballpark.
Daniel Arambula’s first-inning homer staked Utah to a 9-0 lead. Kansas responded with a seven-run fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Jordan Bach and a two-run ground-rule double from Brady Ballinger. Max Soliz Jr. tied the game with a solo homer in the fifth, part of a five-run frame that put Kansas ahead for good.
Kansas starter Mathis Nayral earned the win with five solid innings of relief, allowing one earned run after Utah’s early outburst. The Jayhawks improved to 21-10, while the Utes fell to 16-12.
