Iona at La Salle

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The La Salle Explorers look to move above .500 when they host the Iona Gaels in a non-conference matchup Wednesday evening at Hank DeVincent Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures near 77 degrees.

La Salle (14-14) enters having split a four-game series at George Washington, including an 8-4 win Sunday. Hudson Narke was dominant in relief in that victory, throwing three hitless innings with one strikeout. The right-hander has not allowed a hit in his last 5 1/3 innings over two appearances and figures to be a key arm out of the bullpen.

Iona (7-14) seeks to rebound from a 2-3 series loss at Niagara, capped by a 3-2 defeat Sunday despite a strong start from Luke Lang. The left-hander pitched seven no-hit innings but was charged with three earned runs, taking a hard-luck loss. Lang has been effective in three of his last four outings, including a five-inning, scoreless start against Marist on March 21.

At the plate, Iona’s Jordan Overton is coming off a two-hit, two-RBI game Sunday that included a home run. For La Salle, outfielder Kosei Suzuki also homered and drove in two runs in Sunday’s win.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is La Salle 5, Iona 3.

Following Wednesday’s contest, La Salle opens an Atlantic 10 series at home against Richmond on Thursday. Iona travels to face Maryland-Baltimore County for a three-game set starting Thursday.
