Rebels Rally Past Trojans With Late Surge
OXFORD, Miss. (Interstat) — Mississippi rallied from an early four-run deficit to defeat Arkansas-Little Rock 7-4 on Tuesday evening at Swayze Field.
The Trojans (17-12) scored four runs in the first two innings, including back-to-back solo homers by Chaplain and Cade Martin in the second. Judd Utermark answered with a solo shot for the Rebels (20-10) in the bottom of the first.
Mississippi tied it in the fifth on a three-run double by Will Furniss, who finished 3 for 4. Connor Reuter’s seventh-inning homer put the Rebels ahead for good. Two unearned runs on an error in the eighth provided insurance.
Despite being outhit 13-8, Mississippi’s bullpen combined for 5 1/3 scoreless innings from Terry Hayes, Noah Allen and Landon Waters to secure the win.
