New Orleans at Southeastern Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. (Interstat) — The Southeastern Louisiana Lions will look to complete a series sweep when they host the New Orleans Privateers in the finale of a three-game Southland Conference set Sunday afternoon at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 71 degrees forecast.

The Lions (15-12, 2-0 Southland) have powered their way to wins in the first two games, including an 11-1 rout on Saturday. Southeastern Louisiana’s offense has been potent, scoring 24 runs on 23 hits in the series so far.

A key catalyst has been third baseman Alex Perry. He drove in five runs with a home run in Saturday’s victory. For the season, Perry has shown explosive power, with three home runs and 11 RBIs over his last six games played entering the series.

The Privateers (11-18, 0-2) will aim to salvage the final game and snap a three-game skid. A bright spot in Saturday’s loss was reliever Brock Hill, who tossed two scoreless and hitless innings. The right-hander has been effective lately, not allowing an earned run in his last four appearances spanning 6.1 innings.

Despite their record, New Orleans has shown fight this season, including a series win at Northwestern State last weekend.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 victory for the Lions, with its ELO rating system giving Southeastern Louisiana a 64.1% probability to win.

Following the game, New Orleans travels to face South Alabama on Tuesday. Southeastern Louisiana hits the road for a matchup at Southern Mississippi on Tuesday before resuming conference play at Incarnate Word next weekend.
