Preview: Missouri State Bears at Dallas Baptist Patriots

DALLAS (Interstat) — A key Conference USA series continues Saturday evening as the Missouri State Bears visit the Dallas Baptist Patriots at Ellis Davis Field House.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. under a forecast calling for 64-degree temperatures and rain.

The Bears (16-7) enter with momentum, having won eight of their last ten games. They are coming off a dominant 16-2 midweek victory over Oklahoma State on Tuesday, powered by a two-home run, six-RBI performance from designated hitter Carter Bergman.

Bergman, a key player to watch for Missouri State, has been on a power surge, homering in four of his last eight games and driving in 11 runs over that span.

Dallas Baptist (14-11) looks to rebound after a 5-11 loss to TCU on Tuesday. The Patriots have split their last six contests. A player to watch for the Patriots is reliever Aiden VanDeHatert, who delivered 2 2/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts against TCU in his last appearance.

The series opened Friday with Missouri State securing a victory. Saturday’s matchup features two of the league’s more potent lineups. Missouri State has scored 10 or more runs in six of its last ten games. Dallas Baptist has reached double-digit runs in five of its last ten.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, favoring Missouri State 8-6.

The teams will conclude the three-game series Sunday afternoon.
