New Orleans at Southeastern Louisiana

SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA HOSTS NEW ORLEANS IN SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE SERIES FINALE

HAMMOND, La. (March 28, 2026) (Interstat) — The Southeastern Louisiana Lions and the New Orleans Privateers will conclude a three-game Southland Conference series Saturday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 81 degrees.

The Lions (13-12) enter the contest with a winning record, while the Privateers sit at 11-16. According to Interstat projections, Southeastern Louisiana is favored, with a 62.5% probability to win and a simulated final score of 5-3.

New Orleans looks to rebound after being shut out in the series opener Friday. The Privateers are coming off a 7-0 midweek road win at Jackson State on Tuesday, where their pitching staff shined.

A key player to watch for New Orleans is reliever Reid Leonard. The right-hander was dominant against Jackson State, throwing two hitless innings with three strikeouts. However, his recent outings have been volatile, including a March 17 appearance at Tulane where he failed to record an out and allowed four earned runs.

For Southeastern Louisiana, reliever Luke Lirette is a player to monitor. Lirette tossed three hitless innings in Tuesday’s 9-3 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette, though he allowed two earned runs. He has been effective in short stints this season, with four scoreless appearances of one inning or less since late February.

The Lions dropped two of three at McNeese State last weekend but secured a series win over Stephen F. Austin the previous week. New Orleans lost two of three at Northwestern State in its most recent conference series.

Following Saturday’s game, the teams will meet again Sunday in the series finale before both face non-conference road tests on Tuesday. New Orleans travels to South Alabama, while Southeastern Louisiana visits Southern Mississippi.
