Southeastern Louisiana at Louisiana-Lafayette

SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA AT LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE PREVIEW

LAFAYETTE, La. (March 24, 2026) (Interstat) — The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns will host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions in a midweek, in-state non-conference matchup Tuesday at M.L. Tigue Moore Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 81 degrees.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (16-8) enter on a three-game skid after being swept at Texas State over the weekend, culminating in a 16-6 loss Sunday. Louisiana-Lafayette’s offense will look to reignite against its in-state foe.

A player to watch for the home team is Steven Spalitta, who provided a bright spot in the series finale by hitting a pinch-hit, two-run homer in his only at-bat. He is batting .333 (5-for-15) over his last six games played.

The visiting Lions (13-11) are coming off a high-scoring road victory, defeating McNeese State 13-8 on Sunday to avoid a sweep in that series. Their offense erupted for 13 hits in the win.

Southeastern Louisiana’s lineup is powered by Alex Perry, who was instrumental in Sunday’s win, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Despite some recent ups and downs, Perry has driven in seven runs over his last five games and poses a significant power threat in the middle of the order.

On the mound, both teams are expected to utilize several pitchers in a bullpen game typical of a Tuesday non-conference contest. The Lions’ Blake Lobell worked 4 1/3 innings of relief in Sunday’s win, which could impact availability.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest projects to be a tight one, with a predicted final score of Southeastern Louisiana 6, Louisiana-Lafayette 5.

This game marks the first of two scheduled meetings between the programs this season. They are set to meet again in Hammond on April 8.

Following this contest, Louisiana-Lafayette will open a Sun Belt Conference series at home against Louisiana-Monroe on Friday. Southeastern Louisiana will begin a Southland Conference series at home against New Orleans on Friday.
