JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Florida Gators shut out the Florida State Seminoles 5-0 on Tuesday evening at 121 Financial Ballpark, riding a combined three-hitter from their pitching staff.

Three Florida pitchers — starter Jackson Barberi, Russell Sandefer and Luke McNeillie — combined for 16 strikeouts. Sandefer earned top star honors with three scoreless innings of relief, rebounding from a rough outing last week.

The Gators (20-6) broke a scoreless tie in the second inning on a sacrifice bunt by Cash Strayer. They then pulled away with a four-run seventh, highlighted by a two-run single from Blake Cyr. Ethan Surowiec also drove in a run.

Cooper Whited started strong for the Seminoles (19-5), tossing 3 2/3 hitless innings, but reliever Cole Stokes allowed four runs in the seventh. Florida State managed just three hits total.
