LONG BEACH, Calif. (Interstat) — Jason Gerfers threw a complete-game four-hitter Sunday afternoon, leading Long Beach State to a 2-1 victory over Hawaii in a Big West Conference baseball game at Blair Field.

Gerfers struck out seven and allowed one earned run, outdueling a combined effort from three Hawaii pitchers who yielded just three hits. The Dirtbags scored on Dylan Lina’s solo homer in the second inning and a sacrifice fly by Toomey in the fifth. Hawaii’s lone run came on an RBI single by Elijah Ickes in the fourth.

The win gave Long Beach State the series victory after the teams split the first two games. The Dirtbags improved to 6-13 overall. The Warriors fell to 9-7.
