SHELBY, N.C. (Interstat) — Reid Bertram delivered a commanding start, allowing two earned runs over seven innings with eight strikeouts, to lead Gardner-Webb past Longwood 9-4 in a Big South baseball game Sunday at John Henry Moss Stadium.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs (12-8) erased an early four-run deficit with a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by Matt Ilgenfritz’s two-run homer and a two-run single from Diego Guevara. Allan Camarillo added two RBIs for Gardner-Webb, which secured the series win after splitting the first two games.

The Lancers (14-6) scored all four runs in the first inning but were held to seven hits. Joe Gomez and Wyatt Bunch provided scoreless relief outings for Longwood in the loss.
