Preview: Northern Colorado Bears at Utah Valley Wolverines
VINEYARD, Utah (Interstat) — The Utah Valley Wolverines will look to continue their home-field advantage and secure a series win when they host the struggling Northern Colorado Bears in a Monday afternoon matchup at Brent Brown Ballpark.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. MDT under cloudy skies with temperatures near 52 degrees.
The Wolverines (8-7) have taken three of the first four games in this series, including a 14-4 rout on Sunday. Utah Valley’s offense has been potent at home, averaging over 10 runs per game in the series.
Northern Colorado (2-16) seeks to salvage the final game of the five-game set and snap a three-game skid. The Bears’ season has been defined by close losses and defensive struggles, having allowed 10 or more runs in nine of their 16 defeats.
A key player to watch for the Bears is right fielder Ethan Mooser, who provided most of Sunday’s offense with a three-run home run. He has driven in five runs over the last three games.
For Utah Valley, two-way player Hunter Katschke is a central figure. He starred in Sunday’s win, going 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs. Katschke has also seen time on the mound this series, pitching an inning in Saturday’s doubleheader.
The Interstat game simulator projects a Utah Valley victory with a final score of 5-2.
Following this series, Northern Colorado returns home to host Saint Thomas (Minn.) for a three-game set starting Friday. Utah Valley will enjoy a week off before beginning a two-game home series against Cincinnati next Monday.
Probable Starters: To be announced.
Series Note: This game concludes a five-game series between the teams. Utah Valley leads the series 3-1.
